Guildford Motor Club closed on the 31st December 2025 after 72 years. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The website will remain open for the time being, with access to all the various photographs from events and past magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please read the following message from the Chairman.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dear Club Member,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last August, I wrote to you all regarding the future of the club. We were struggling with attracting members, the competitive element of the club had all but gone, and the social aspect was in a bad way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several of you replied, with various ideas as to how to improve the club and keep it going. We implemented those ideas in the hope that interest in the club might pick up and we could keep it going, which we did for a year. Sadly, events and circumstances have conspired against us and the committee have unfortunately concluded, that Guildford Motor Club has indeed run its course and will formally close down on 31st<\/sup> December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Chairman of GMC for over 20 years, I have to thank all those who have served on the committee and have officiated on, and participated in, club events. The club would not have survived as long as it did without your knowledge, time and dedication to the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a personal note, I would like to say what a privilege it has been to be a member and official of GMC for the past 46 years. I\u2019ve had immense pleasure in marshalling and driving on events across England and Wales, with like-minded friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following was the introductory text to the website, <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Guildford Motor Club was founded in 1953, by a group of six motoring and motorsport enthusiasts to organise and compete in rallies and races. Within a few weeks of forming, Guildford Motor Club had attracted a sizable number of members, including the legendary F1 Racing driver, Mike Hawthorn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guildford Motor Club members compete and marshal on events ranging from Scatters and navigational 12 Cars, which can be entered using a normal family car, to Sprints, Races and Rallies where specially prepared vehicles are usually required. The club also organises a 12 car rally each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We run two Touring Assemblies each year, which are non competitive and can be entered using any car. These events are very popular.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
